Devil's Food Cake with Buttercream Frosting

Batter
- 2 c flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 c cocoa
- 1/2 c hot water
- 3/4 c butter
- 1.5 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 c buttermilk
Butter Cream Frosting
- 3/4 c butter room temp
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 5 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Batter
Mix flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa in a small bowl and set aside.
Mix hot water, butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk in large mixing bowl.
Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until well blended.
Grease and flour two 9" round pans or 1 - 9x13" pan.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out dry.
