Country Style Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1 large bowl
  • 2 9" cake pans
  • 1 medium bowl



  • 2 c milk
  • 1/2 c vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 1/4 t yeast
  • 4 1/2 c flour
  • 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 3 T butter softened or melted for coating pans


  • 8 T butter softened
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 3 T cinnamon


  • 1/2 c powdered sugar
  • 1/8 c maple syrup
  • 1 T butter softened
  • 1 T brewed coffee
  • 1/4 t salt


  • Mix milk, veg oil, sugar in saucepan.
  • Warm over medium heat, just until sugar is dissolved and temperature reaches 95-100 degrees.
  • Remove from heat and pour into large mixing bowl. Cool if needed to 95-100 degrees.
  • Sprinkle the yeast over lukewarm milk mixture and set aside 5-10 minutes.
  • Add 4 cups of flour and stir until combined. Mixture should be bubbly and puffed.
  • In a small bowl, mix remaining 1/2 c of flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until blended and mix into dough until all flour is incorporated. Loosely cover bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for approx 1 hour.
  • Grease cake pans with 3 T softened or melted butter.
  • On floured work area, roll out dough to measure 30"x18". Dough Should be thin.
  • Spread softened butter across entire surface of dough, stopping 1" short on 30" side furthest from you.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over buttered dough.
  • Roll into a log, keeping tight, rolling toward unbuttered edge.
  • Cut into 1" slices, placing cut sides down onto prepared pans.
  • Cover and rise for 40 minutes.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Remove and cool.
  • Prepare frosting in a medium sized mixing bowl.
  • Spread frosting over cooled rolls.
